engine installation.... plz help!!!
 

i have a 83 944 and removed the engine to replace the clutch and now i am trying to put the engine back in and i am running into some problems what is the easiest way to go about this..... plz help

are u going in from bottom or the top? guessing you're having problems putting the torq tube back into the bellhousing. but it's only a guess.

rub some thin lube on the splines of the torq tube. get a long ratcheting strap or chain two together. go around the front of the oil pan and tie it back to rear sway bar or any other support u can find. apply rearward pressure with the ratcheting strap while at same time rotate the crank ever so slightly and bounce the engine left/right/up/down. it'll go in.

I am going in from the top. There is a cross member in the way to keep me from going from under. I am trying to put it in without moving the drive shaft back if it is possible.

and you're having clearance issue with the oil pan to Xmember, right?

u need to push up on the TT carrier when u lower the engine back in. it needs to mate "midair"

also i don't know if this applies to you. i have a depowered steering rack. unbolting the rack from the Xmember and the steering column and pushing it upwards and forwards helps the oil pan clear. remember to center your steering rack and wheel before reattaching column.

Not sure if this would apply, as you're going in from the top - but when I dropped my engine, I got lots of extra room by removing the fans and radiator. Very easy to remove these, and as a bonus you can give your radiator a good flush from both ends.
