Sunroof not releasing

Greetings all,
After going all summer without an operable sunroof I am finally trying to sort everything out. One gear is stripped and the gear is ordered but I also have another problem which does not appear to be related to the stripped gear.

With the sunroof removed so there is no load on the remaining good arm:

The sunroof will lift and lower to the latched position ok with the console switch but using the console switch I cannot get the arm to retract fully so that the roof can be removed (there is no voltage to the motor when I tell it to retract the arms).
I can retract the arms manually to the unlatch position using a wrench on the 21 mm nut on the motor and once the arms are retracted I can power them back to the latched position with the console switch so I know the ignition is in the right position and the rocker switch is energized.

any ideas where to look before I just start going point to point with my meter.

Thanks,

Jon

It sounds like you have a bad relay. Clarks garage has a nice write up about it and so does pelican. I love the sunroof although mine is on permanently for the winter. Miss behaving slip clutch and gears!

It's the #1 limit switch. Anyone have a source and part number, Pelican doesn't seem to have it.

Thx,
Jon

Are you referring to the micro switches (2) on the motor assembly? If so, the part number is:

944.613.127.00 for vin numbers above 92HN4 50198
