so, to recap. you had sand in your tank but were getting proper pressure and flow from the fuel pump.

but now, you've cleaned it all out but the coil is bad.

john944 10-01-2010 01:46 AM

yes that is correct. but im about 100 % sure,, the sand made it to the fuel injectors and only one is opening.

that would do it.

john944 10-01-2010 05:31 PM

what would make my car loose injector pulse?

nynor 10-01-2010 07:20 PM

bad dme, bad dme relay, broken timing belt, i am sure there are more options.

what makes you think you aren't getting signal to the injectors?

trojansailor 10-01-2010 07:34 PM

Are you getting tach bounce?

I'm trying to figure out why I'm not getting signals to open the injectors also. I can open them up manually and the car will run. The stuff I've done is in this thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-924-944-968-technical-forum/565201-can-i-generate-fuel-injector-signals-do-i-have-bad-dme.html

I am a little lost here.....you checked the strainer and it was clean, yet you have sand in your tank? Plus you changed the fuel filter, and noticed no sand?

Something is strange.....

nynor 10-01-2010 09:00 PM

troll?

john944 10-03-2010 06:04 PM

what makes me think i aint getting signal is that im gettin proper amount of gas pressure to them, i can spray car cleaner in the throttle boddy and it runs. but when u first start these cars all ur injectors open at the same time for the start. but after it starts and the key is moved to ac than they open at seperate times. i think that there just not gettin a signal from the dme computer. but i think what may cause this is a bad fly wheel sensor but im not totally sure. what do u all think?

john944 10-03-2010 06:05 PM

and for the sand thing, at one point i did have everything good in the tank and fuel lines, but, somehow, my fuel pressure droped when i was still workin on it. some1 put sand in it while it was sittin around. just my luck lol

john944 10-04-2010 05:51 PM

ok, now my starter isnt gettin signal to turn over, it works and iv had it off to test it. is it possible that my speed or refference signal sensor have anything to do with this or any other problem iv been having?

nynor 10-04-2010 05:59 PM

ignition switch.

john944 10-04-2010 06:03 PM

put 3 new ones in it. still does the exact same thing

nynor 10-04-2010 06:08 PM

three new ones? where did you get three NEW ones?

relay. wiring. fuse.

john944 10-05-2010 03:57 PM

These issues are annoying, aren't they?

Hey, I'm bascially having the exact same problem. However When I try to throttle mine, it dies. And actually I don't even need to touch the throttle and it will die.
What things could be associated with that?

If that's the case, can you confirm that the pump is actually running?

You should try checking the pressure - Fuel Pressure - Checking

Here's the procedure for testing the DME relay: DME Relay Information and Testing

Do these pumps activate when the key is in the 'on' position or when the engine actually starts cranking?
I test mine and the pump didn't activate till I started cranking the engine. I had the fuel feed off and aimed into a can and as soon as I crank the engine, fuel started gushing out. Is that normal or should the pump energize prior to cranking?

nynor 10-16-2010 07:16 PM

i think it doesn't start the fuel pump until the engine is turning over. it is a safety feature that prevents the pump from running on in the event of an accident or other failure.

john944 10-17-2010 07:10 PM

well, after i tried everything, i replaced the dme computer. the thing runs perfect. i guess it was the problem all along. but i do thank everybody that has gave me avice. u guys have been absolutly a great help to me.

nynor 10-17-2010 07:22 PM

bs. the DME has nothing to do with the starter.
