Anyone done this shifter repair
Tech-july-03
In this one you drill out the shift rod. I want to do this and am curious if anyone has done it without dropping the transmission. Also what kind of drill bits did you use? About how much did they cost? Any other tips would be helpful. |

I did the 924 bushing fix, and did it just by raising up the shift rod after removing the shift lever. You can drill it out from inside the car without much difficulty.
It makes everything better from a shifting perspective. Throw in a short shifter at the transaxle linkage, and it is as good as it gets for these cars. Good luck, Keith

You can drill it out to oversize the hole inside the car.

I replaced the lever and its great. still some play but its more than tolerable for everyday use. That is if you are willing to pay $54 for the thing.
