What part is this?

What is part A in this picture? I can not find it pictured in my Haynes Manual.

When I depress the gas pedal, the cable for part A does not move. Only the throttle switch (part B) moves.

When I advance the cable on part A with my hand, the cable on the throttle switch (part B) moves along with it.

I have a '84 944 that does not start (this picture was taken off the internet and is not my car).

I'm just wondering if has something to do with the no start condition on this thread:
Can I generate fuel injector signals? Do I have a bad DME?

That is the cruise control. That is why the throttle moves when the cruise control servo (servo is a guess) moves.

That's the VTEC module.

No that has nothing to do with your non start issue. Clarks garage is a good start as the previous poster stated above.
