I am taking a trip to Miami a week from Saturday (Jan 26th) to look at an '87 944S being sold off a used car lot there (great price, my color, loaded). My dad, who lives an hour away from Miami went to see the car today, and gave it his thumbs up. Of course dad ISNT a 944 expert--and neither am I (although I am getting there thanks to this and other great groups)!
Does anyone know of a good mechanic in the Miami area who would be available to come to the lot (they dont want to let the car be driven to a mechanic, but have no problem letting one examine the car there)?? I would pay the going PPI rate, but need it to be done either later on Saturday, or, on Monday morning. Help!! Thanks. Andy

If they don't want you to drive it to get inspected by a mechanic, then I would be really leary of this one. Take it to a Porsche dealer so they can give it the full check and see what your getting into, otherwise you could spend thousands of $ in repairs

True
They said I could bring a mechanic, but because of insurance regs, they didnt want me taking the car for a ride away from the dealer without one of them there. They aren't going to wanna sit for 2 hours at a Porsche dealer with me.
I had the idea of adding the car to my insurance policy by using the VIN. My insurance is sending out a card. I can use this to just take the car myself (assuming I leave a credit card or something at the dealer)....this might work?
