Call me mad but has anybody done this?

I've done a fair bit of searching but really couldn't find much. I'm looking at a mild restoration of my 944 into what it might have been back in the mid-80's had somebody had the time and money. Perhaps today it might be a little like an R-Gruppe 944. I know this isn't cost effective but I enjoy taking a car on the brink and giving it some new life. The exterior is mostly done (contemplating the fixed headlight conversion) and now it's time to focus on the interior. I want something reminiscent of the 924 Carrera GTS but still keeping all the basic creature comforts. I have a NOS dash on the way, and I have a perfect Fitti Personal wheel waiting to install.

So basically I'm soliciting any ideas you guys may have.

First a couple of exterior pics.

Here are my inspiration pics for the interior.

GTS Classics has started making repos of the original Lollipop seats so I can go that route at least for the drivers side.

And also a rear seat delete and harness bar (or half-cage). I'll probably go the RS door panel route and new carpet throughout. I wish there was a conversion for the center console delete. Any other ideas out there? Let's hear them.

I like that console delete for the earlies...although I'd buy a shorter lever, it looks too high.

I don't like the stock height of the factory shifter, so I "adjusted" mine in my car. It looks 10X better, IMO. you can buy an adjustable lever too.

(I also have the short-shift/throw kit installed)

Beautiful Series 1 car!! If you are contemplating the fixed headlight option, wait and see what Roman's (fellow Pelican) look like. He went with a Texas Performance set made for early cars. I may follow suit if the looks are there...
