R 12 refill kit

I have a 1985 944 with R12. I have the r12 and was able to find a refile hose but the end of the connection won't line up with the intake on the low pressure side because of how the end is attached. Is their a specific connection for the 944?

Nope, regular R12 screw on fitting. You are going to need to move the compressor to get it on and off. You can find a fitting that will work though.

You might want to find the leak first. I bet front seal on the compressor.

When I do mine I use a guage set. One end is at about 45 degree and will fit with compressor in place. It is still fairly difficult to get on but is do-able. You did not say if system is flat, or in need of top off. If flat add some dye to help locate leak. The smart thing to do (if flat) is change all O-rings first. Then pull a hard vacuum and see if holds. If it holds then charge system. Remember, some systems will hold a vacuum, but leak when under pressure.

p.s.--- I do have all equipment so some things may be difficult to do.

"Topping off" is service port valve core leak, "flat" is front seal, most likely. I wouldn't mess with any o-rings you don't have to while you service. Oily residue is a dead give away where it leaks. If 134a is an option, it's a cheap conversion.
