The love affair returns

It has been years since I have been active on here, in PCA, or even driving my two Porsches. Life really turned upside down on us a few years ago when the economy tanked. Went from a 4 car garage to a two car garage which forced storage of the P cars. After watching my 944 sit next to the house with a car cover on it I cracked. I either need to clean it up and sell it, or, start driving it more regularly and park the MB SUV.

So the cover came off and I hosed her off. I installed the battery which had been hibernating in the garage on a tender. Cranking her up the lifters made a racket, but she fired right up. She did not idle right, which I found to be a severely leaking intake gasket. So I pulled the intake, replaced the gaskets, and then replaced all the vacuum hoses I could find.

She cleaned up well and is now running better than she has in years. I need to get the new clutch master and slave in, but they work good, just leak. She goes in for a new set of shoes tomorrow morning.

I bought this car 12 years ago. I had a heavily modded 924 before, but always lusted after the 944. I bought it in good mechanical condition, but lacking cosmetically. Over the years I spent a ton of time and some money fixing her up. New interior, updated audio, some tasteful trim pieces, and then attacked the suspension. Full M030 kit and coil overs were installed along with headers and a good exhaust system.

About 8 years ago I finally saved up the money to have her repainted. This is when I took her off the road as a daily driver and only used her for weekend fun runs.

So now it is running great and back into service. 188k miles and running like a fine swiss timepiece. The love affair is back.

Thanks guys. I sure do like her.

Just got a new set of Toyo Proxes 4's installed today. Boy, were the old tires shagged. I figured out that they were over 10 years old. Hard as a rock and vibrated badly. Never liked the old Kumho's anyway, even when new.

Now she is nice and smooth. I need to have a couple of rock chips repaired now then off to a good detailer to polish the exterior. When the weather turns I will pull the dash and put the new stitched dash covering on. I have had it for over 5 years sitting in a box, embarrassing, huh?
