Ok, if the "S" is in fact F@#$ up...could i drop another 944 engine into it?
944 turbo engine, S2 engine, or any?
|
listen...just sell the car and buy a turbo! Your problems will be solved and you will spend WAY less!
By spending the money you want on the S you can have yourself a 400hp monster |
You could get a used 944NA engine and install that. At least you would have a running car then. Non-running 944 = $500.00
|
overkill: what's wrong with your S? There was an aritcle in Excellence magazine about a year ago of a guy who swapped an S2 engine into a 944S body: seems the most difficult part was to get the air filter setup in the nose done right.
If you're interested, I'll find out which issue it was in.... -Zoltan. PS: Please go easy on the language, there's no need for @#$% and !#$%!@#. Thanks. |
I'll tell you what is wrong with his S - NOTHING. The people on this board have scared him into thinking he has a faulty car (well, some people).
I hope this bashing of the S stops soon. All these people who keep saying, "stay away from the S" or things like that should be providing solid reasons and proof as to why the S is soooooo bad. Anyone have any PROOF other than "what they have read or heard" or an opinion based on bad personal experiences? I've had a girl leave me before - does that mean I can go around saying - "stay away from women"?? Why would Porsche make a "bad" car???? I can see if it was a Ford we are talking about here - but Porsche making a car that "just breaks"??? Sorry - I don't see that happening. Just fix the Cam Tensioner and stop listening to all the haters out there. The S model will be worth more in the future and you will lack fulfillment if you "go back down" to the N/A. Either buy a Turbo (and get ready for just as much maintainance as the S, if not more) or keep the S, do the Tensioner and enjoy it. |
944s
Hey!! if u think u have a problem with ur S eng.. Sell me the Motor i will F/I it!
|
944sBoyeee is right (except for the future value) as previously discussed the cam chain tensioner is only a problem if preventative maintenance is neglected or the vehicle serviced by shops unaware of proper Porsche service.
All of the S engines I have seen that have suffered tensioner failure had not been maintained correctly. Replace the tensioner and the chain and there will be NO problem. As the above potential problem has depressd values, here is a chance to buy a late 944 for less than you would think. |
