CJOVEN: Not online, but magnecore sells directly.
This is part of an e.mail that send me Steve Brown of Magnecore. Our set uses spark plug connectors that are different to the originals, they are a different design and are harder to fit, because they are more flexible components - a picture is attached (next to a factory wire for comparison). The prices are: Electrosports-70 7mm cable, part number 47192 - $50.26 Electrosports-80 8mm cable, part number 40192 - $52.90 KV85 8.5mm cable, part number 45192 - $77.33 KV85 CN series 8.5mm cable, part number 43192 - $81.19 R-100 10mm cable, part number 49192 - $125.29 R-100 CN series 10mm cable, part number 46192 - $131.55 I don´t know why I can´t post the picture ! ? |

Eduardo, I don't want to download Magnecor's product catalog, but which model car do you have?
As I last understood, they did not have the spark plug boots for the S2, and the boots for the 951 were easy to tear. Which would seem to be confirmed by that note from Magnecor. Their boots are pure silicone while original are tougher rubber, from a tearing standpoint. So you may tear the Magnecor boots as you shove them in and out of the plug hole. You can buy replacement Beru original boots, but I don't think you can fit them over the fatter Magnecor wires. Also, there are online sellers that will sell to you for about 20% less than Magnecor will directly. They have one of the best wires in the world, I wish they could solve the boot issue. Let me know how things turn out as I'm debating those wires also. |

Just wondering why you think you need mega-wires for a stock 944?

I have magnecores 8.5mm wires
I have the 8.5mm wires. You have to be careful the boots are quite a bit softer than OEM. They look and fit great. The only thing I don't like is that the boots don't seal the recessed plug holes as tight as OEM. The boots are shorter and softer than original. 83'944
britwrench-----the better wires are cheaper than replacement OEM Last edited by peregrinfalcon; 01-23-2002 at 03:10 PM.. |

Ummm...I have the magnecor wires for my all-trac. They perform fine (much better than the worn out original driving on 3 cylinders stock wires), but they seem rather fragile, and the boots don't seem like they fit all the way down on the terminals on the cap, and they don't seem like the best wires out there (they didn't fit as well as stock). I am also in the process of buying up a bunch of parts for my 951, and I asked the rennlist board which wires to get, and I got a recommendation on every different type. I ended up getting some from jacobs electronics ( http://www.jacobselectronics.com ) for $44, shipping included, will be here in 3 business days. Aparently they use the beru connectors which are much better than the fragile ones that magnecor uses, they are 8.5 mm, silicon shielded, solid metal core, etc. etc. Not bad, and they were the cheapest wires I could find. An interesting read is this: http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/truth.htm . This article tells you all of the hocus pocus surrounding wires, the technology that goes into them, etc. etc...it made me realize that as long as I get wires that shield from electro-magnetic interference well and are well built, I will be happy. I almost had somebody talk me into the nology capacitive discharge type wires, but they were very expensive, and from what I have read they have a tendancy to wear out very quickly.
Oh yeah, I ordered the wires direct from jacobs...the 800 number is on their homepage. Good luck, let us know what you decide.
