As of right now I'm not sure who to determine if its the axles, transaxle, or the rear shocks/suspension? Any ideas on how to determine what it might be would help.

Be safe doing this -- chock the front wheels, make sure the jack stands are in good position,
maybe use a multiple set. Pile a bunch of tires in front of you.... etc etc. Jack the car up so the rear wheels can be engaged without moving the car. Try to mimic the point where you are hearing the sounds. Can you pinpoint the sound when the car is stationary, but wheels engaged. If you can mimic the sound even if you can't pinpoint it -- then it's not your suspension. Please be careful. m |
The car would need to have some load on it. It does it when the car squats or when under load aka would cause squating.

Okay just another tidbit of info. I have noticed that when the car is cold or not fully warmed up it doesn't make this noise. So just now I was driving and it was fully warmed up a few hours ago. It had cooled down. It was reading barely warmed up on the temp gauge I got on it in second gear and there was no noise at all. But then a little later once it warmed up fully there was the noise when I got on it in 2nd gear.
CV's maybe? |
Easy enough to check your CVs, remove and disassemble. This is just a mild guess but I bet they are in need of service anyway.

i wouldnt be surprised if those remaned axles are causing the noise. i had a similar noise in my buddies integra, he had bought a remaned axle from napa. about a month later he was gettn a pretty nasty clunking on turns to that side. i took the joint apart to inspect it and it looked fine. he insisted on putting a new axle in. boom- problem fixed.

Okay. Might try that again. Turn in a warranty claim.
