maybe a dme problem on a 944?

ok so i have a question on a 1987 944 base model. this car is all stock and was running good, but wouldn't pass the ca emissions so i replaced the cat and o2 sensor then changed the plugs to a cool running stock ( ngk ) bpr6egp platinum then ajusted the air intake till i was within the correct voltage on the o2 so i stopped and then came back to just re check it and accidently tested the direct power side of the o2 plug the two probes touched and made a small quick spark and the car died, now it won't start so did it damage the dme or some other fuse, i checked the other fuses in the main box and all seem to have power as applied and in good shape, am i missing a different location for some shut off or fuse?

i did this. it is a fuse. i think it was the DME or fuel pump fuse.

in fact, like a nitwit, i did it about three times before i figured out what was shorting the fuse.

if you cannot figure it out, let me know and i will go check the fuse number on my car that needed replacing.

it was the 15 amp fuse

so it was a fuse i checked it with a meter and it showed power so i figured they were all good but in the end i just pulled all of them for a visual inspection and found it, thanks so now my issue is getting the idle down to 1,000 rpm or less as i can't smog it till i do, ( california ) it has always ran at 1200 rpm and i have set the o2 and ajusted the afm screw as i have read here, any ideas ?

hahaha so the funny thing is i bought this car in utah. have had it for 4 years passed smog there.

Unless a previous owner has really, really screwed with things, I can't think of any instance where the throttle stop screw should ever come out of adjustment.

Now, if the car is idling at 1,200 RPM or so, chances are that your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is either dead or mal-adjusted (or that your throttle cable is too tight) and the throttle plate isn't actually ever closing or registering as closed. If the TPS doesn't sense a closed throttle, you'll have a high idle because the DME "thinks" you have the throttle just barely open. Clark's Garage has a good writeup on testing and replacing the TPS:

From what you've given, it sounds to me as though your TPS is either maladjusted and not registering a closed throttle, or your throttle cable is just a hair too tight and isn't letting the throttle plate close fully. I'd check those two things first to resolve the high idle.
