Drivers side High-Beam Headlight troubles?
First of it's a 1985 944/1, the problem being the drivers side headlight won't go to high-beam. I thought it was the lamp, so I replaced it only to have it still not work. The passengers headlight will go to high-beam however the drivers side won't, what could be causing this?

I have had this problem before. The wire harness at the back of the light will have a bend in it and after I removed the outer sheathing I saw that the wire was cut. It may be this and is an easy fix if it is. I cut out the bad section and added in new wire with butt conectors.

Hi Landonl, Check the 8 amp fuse in position 3 as it controls the High Beam on the drivers side. Each light has its own fuse.
Cheers, Larry

I had checked the fuse before all else, should have posted that. Unclipped the wiring harness that connects directly to the headlight and checked the terminals with a volt meter. I get 12v when it's set to low beam, and when I switch to high I get nothing, on either of the two power terminals...That eliminated the wire being split close to the connector clip. So the problem is somewhere between the fuse and the lines running to the light. Unless it's before the fuse

doubt its before the fuse....anyways, you can check with a test light to see if you have power at the fuse. I still believe the broken wire is before that connector as well. remove some of the shielding over the wires and keep probing the wire until you find power, should be right before a big bend in the wire.
