924/944 stub axle length?

I'm looking for the length and diameter of a rear stub axle with 12 splines that takes the 5 bolt hub. This is off of the '80-'82 924, and the '83-'85 944.
thanks,
Harold

Why would you need that information? Doing something custom? Since you have 2 (4 actually), why can't you measure one of those?

Trying to see if the stub axles will fit (lengthwise) a vw type 2 trailing arm. Not concerned if the bearing size is different. I want to convert to a 5 bolt hub to run Fuchs.

I have a couple kicking around on the floor of my garage; one's actually still in one piece. Can you specify exactly where you want the dimensions measured, particularly the length?

I C, looks like I read into it wrong anyways (didn't have any coffee or ADHD meds in me yet). Apparently you DON'T have a 924 or early 944, that you could measure. I think I still have a front spindle from a 924 lying around somewhere, but that wouldn't help you for the rear (and what-the-heck, it's 4-lug anyways). Chances are that somebody here will be able to hook you up with the #'s that you are seeking.

The total length is close enough, and the shaft diameter.
thanks.

OD is 30mm at bearing surface and all the way to the spline, pretty much.

Length from CV joint face to end of spline is about 9", and to end of thread (absolute outer end of shaft) is about 10". Or do you need the length without the flange for the CV, more to the end of the inner bearing?

my 1st car was a 1973 beetle i still have it . i have fuch wheels on it too . thats ez to do you just redrill the drums to fit the porsche 5 lugs . the front disk brakes i installed came with the porsche 5 lug bolt pattern . if you look at the adds in the hot VW or VW trends mag. you will find places that sell the kits to do what you want to do and people that will redrill your drums and rotors .

This is for my '68 Crewcab w/3.2, 5 speed and a bunch of other stuff. I wanted to fit 8" fuchs in the rear to work with a disk brake conversion I did a few years back. Some folks use 944 trailing arm assemblies, (I have a aluminum pair I will be listing for sale). The dimensions given to me by 924racr closely match the stock type 2 stub axles dimensions and would probably work. I wanted to retain the type 2 trailing arms. The problem is the 944 hub projects out further than my current setup, modified type 2 hub, audi disk, Wilwood caliper.
I ended up using a 5/8" 112 to 130 adapter for the rear. For the front I modified a 912 hub to fit the bus spindle. With some gentle rear fender massaging I got the 8x17 3 pc Fuchs w/245/35/17 to fit. Also fitted to the front temporarily. Thanks for the help.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1292777704.jpg
