Porsche Crest Has anyone seen this type of interior?

Has anyone seen this type of piping on seats? This is a Red Jewel Metallic 1989 944 Turbo with Linen Interior. There is burgundy piping on the seats. This is not noted on the COA. I do not have the original window sticker. I do know the car was purchased at a dealer in South Florida.

Any thoughts?

Hello, The piping really sets the seats off. Just the right color to match your car. Your car looks very well taken care of and is now up to you to keeping it looking that way. In order to help maintain your seat looking new I recommend Leathertique Products. Just my choice, but easier to use and does an outstanding job.

Interesting. I've never seen this from the factory on a 944. Either this was a special order from the "Special Wishes" department, or it is an aftermarket upholstery job.

Unless the car has very low mileage, or you can trace ownership, I'd guess the seats have been recovered. Very nicely recovered. Does the wear on the seats match the rest of the interior?

I would say that the seats have been recovered judging by the "bunching" of the covering at the back of the seat bottom bolsters. If it's not on the COA, it's not from the factory....COA info is taken from the factory build sheets. Though I have seen some COA's with incorrect or wrong info, it is not common. COA's are considered accurate enough to gain additional originality points in PCA and many other major Concours.

i've seen colored piping, but it is rare - it was an option - black piping is fairly common though

The interior seems original. I was checking the COA it says:

Exterior Paint Color/Code
Velvet Red Metallic/U6

Interior Material Color/Type
Linen/Black Partial Leather/NA

Under optional equipment on the COA it says: Partial Leather Seats - Front

Do you think the NA along with the separate listing under optional equipment means something custom was done. I checked the interior color codes on Clark's and Linen is listed as 8WC. Why would it say NA.

Any ideas how to research this with out the window sticker?

it has been around since the 356 - the option is in the Exclusiv options list - it's Z12 if it's vinyl or Z30 if it's leather
