The one-word response to that would be: WEAR!

Depends which direction. If the play is in the rotational direction, you have a problem. If the play is axial, that is normal.

The tranny output shaft is fastened to the differential bevel gear with the long allen cap screw and then it rides on a plain sliding fit bore in the diff carrier so it should float axially. If the play is radial, that is wear on the diff gears.

yes it is axial play
this play is on left side(driver side) ,on the other side it isn't any play, and i didn't had this play before.that allen screw it is tight .
if i change the differential will that play disappear ?
also few times when i am driving in 2nd gear after a hard acceleration -if i leave it to decelerate it will shake hard the back of the car.
could this problem result form this play?

The back side of the driver side diff gear (bevel gear) that attaches to the output shaft maybe has more gap compared to the pass side. Maybe you can put a spacer about 3mm to reduce the axial play.

I had this shaking problem before especially when I downshift to 2nd from 3rd even if I match revs. It sounded like the torque tube was hitting the torsion tube housing in the back. Some people said it could be the exhaust but it was not.
It disappeared when I changed the clutch, pressure plate and machined the flywheel. It does not do it anymore when I downshift to 2nd. Maybe it was the clutch disc dragging between the PP and uneven FW surface.

In short a new clutch, new pressure plate and machine FW fixed the problem.

In your case, check first the easy ones like the exhaust hangers before you do anything else.

The clutch job was not really intended to fix the banging noise when I downshift to 2nd. I dropped the engine for headgasket job and just decided to do the clutch at the same time.
The problem just disappeared after the clutch job.

it is from left to right(in and out, not up and down or rotationally) ...but only on driver side

If you are referring to the axle shaft itself, it does need to have some movement, so the other side should have some in/out movement also. But maybe that side is just too tight to move by hand. On the other hand, maybe the side that you can move IS looser than it should be. Maybe it'll last a while yet though. It's when one of the ball cages lets go, that it is definitely time for a new CV shaft. But it WILL leave you sitting.

Could you post a pic or 2 of the engine with the blower on it?
