no 12 v to coil

my 1984 944 sat in the last owners driveway for 6 years and I think it had water intrusion that entire time .there was standing water on the passenger side and mold all over the inside when I took ownership. I do not have 12 volts to the coil when the engine is cranking. dme relay tested ok. what do test next or just put in a good used dme? I dont know what to do next.

If you are sure there is no 12V to the primary of the ignition coil, take the wire off the positive terminal of the coil then just put a temporary fused 12V from battery to the positive terminal of ignition coil and try to start and see if you get spark.

+1. Did it on mine, car run with the jumper.

Then it turn out to be a broken fuse (not blown).

Since it been sitting around for a while, you should remove and clean all the fuse/fuse holder (1 by 1).

Good luck

+1 on standing water in the Porsche 944's creates all kinds of wiring problems! Specifically all grounds and fuse links get corroded! Underneath drivers side dash way up there is some ground blocks you need to remove wires fro and clean up with scotchbrite. You will need to spend a few hours going through and making sure all electrical connections are clean and moisture free. This will save you hours chasing your tail on the other end trying to diagnose ignition and electrical problems!

You might want to pick up a spare early 944 computer that is a known good unit. I just happen to have one for $100 shipped! Good Luck
