removing swirls in the finish?
 

Has anyone got an answer for REALLY taking the swirls and scratches out of a finish? I've got a Guards Red S2 cab and I've worked it with the best products and techniques, but still, under certain lighting and angles, those elusive microscopic scratches are still visible. I want that wet look (i.e. new Ferrari finish) no matter what the labor requirements are. Anyone?

There doesn't seem to be a product that falls right between creating abrasion and "polishing" out the scratches.
Here's what I have tried:
clay - works great, can see the improvement
Meguires cleaner - great surface prep, recommend it as 1st step
Meguires polish - reduces swirls a little
polishing compound - adds scratches, don't use unless oxidized
rubbing compound - much worse than polishing compound
pure carnuba from Griots - best wax I have used
Zymol - second best, I think
Meguires Gold & dozens of others - ok, wax is wax
'pigment' wax (color) - covers the scratches a little

I'm no pro on this but Ill tell you what works for me. Go to an autobody supply store and get some 3-M liquid polish qt bottle, and while you're there they also make a liquid swirl remover,but it sounds like your swirls are pretty deep so I'd start with the liq/polish, or even the liquid compund and wheel it slowly. You can also get some of this stuff at most chain marine store, and the 3-M marine wax contains a light abrasive and does well also. After you've done this I'd finish it off with a maguire's glaze and then a coat of maguires Gold Class( put on shades before wiping clean). In between waxes I like Mother's show glaze for a wipe on wipe off brightener. :cool: Jim

Pay the money and get some high speed polishing done.
