Wink lost 1st gear!!!!!

I lost my first gear last night. It was a slippery road, the wheels just spun and then I shifted to second, it grinded and never went back to first gear. I think my synchris were going bad before this but this its the first time I lost a gear completely. Before when the trans got hot(after a long trip) I'd lose 2nd gear but it would come back when the tranny cools. Now I can't even get it into 1st gear at all.

I fear that I have to get it overhauled but I can't find any info on how to do it. Has anyone had experience with the process - start to finish? If so is there some literature that I can get my hands on so I can see if I want to take the challenge. I did a search here on the board but came up empty.

Thanks

Red face

before you rebuild... take a look at ebay, the classifieds, and other places for used trannies. if you get a nice condition used tranny, it will be much faster and easier than rebuilding yours.

good luck!
