Catalitic Converter Question
where is the best place to bring catalitic converters for recycling? ive heard some of the precious metals they contain are valued at over $2000 an ounce. Has anyone sold some lately? i have 20-25 944 converters im thinking of getting rid of how much are they worth? is the value rising? or is now the time to sell?

metal scrap yards take them . the last time we scrapped our old cats they would pay 10 dollars for the small cats and 30 dollars for the large ones . but like all metals the price does go up and down .

like i stated the prices go up and down . when i fill the back of the truck we take it down and scrap it . i don't care what it realy pays . i get pizzas for the guys in the shop and then i split the rest of the money up with the workers . the last time the guys voted on getting a flat screen tv and an xbox for the brake room . after all happy workers are good workers ?

cats are made of either ceramic monolith or platinum iridium . the ceramic monolith cats are worthless for scrap value . i have never seen scrap prices over 90 dollars for large cats . most cars that use 2 inline cats are made of ceramic monolith .

ive never sold one for less than $100 and have sold over 50-60 late 944 cats so far. does anyone know where the scrap cats are going ? if it is for export i would expect to see prices exceed $135 each ,are there any indications showing the values will continue to decline ?

I went to south phoenix to scrap mine. The offers I got were 5$-15$
It makes a nice paper weight in the garage.
