radiator s2

Hello to you all, unfortunately it looks like a new radiator is on the cards, there's a good description on Clarks for removal etc, but maybe for earlier models. I've got an '89 S2 with air con and therefor a condenser up front, so think I should follow the proceedure for the turbo charged model. Am I right to do so? One more query, any difference between an S2 rad and others? Many thanks.

Garage
Hi. I have just replaced my radiator and had it done professionally in the end. But a few months ago when I started losing coolant I took the radiator out and had it checked by a specialist. I just followed the Clarks garage manual and I have aircon too. It's actually not difficult. I replaced the mounts. Just be sure they are all seated correctly before you wind down on the adjusting screws at the top and don't overdo the tension.
In the end we decided the O ring wasn't sealing and it was better to put a new radiator in than get the tanks off and put new O rings in.

A turbo radiator will not work in an S2.

The turbo radiators have an extra hole on the left side that channel to the coolant bridge.

While the S2 has this hole, it is covered with a rubber cap and pulling this cap does nothing, it is still blocked off underneath by plastic. I had that problem when I did my S2/Turbo Cab swap. So if you put a turbo radiator in an S2 it will leak from this hole.

If you can get ahold of a turbo radiator for cheaper than an S2 which is likely, you may be able to use the cap off of the S2 Radiator to block this hole on the turbo radiator.

I'm seeing that all S2 rads are 20x14x1 3/4, and the turbo, as well as the 968 rads, have a 24x17x1 5/8 core. The 2.5 NA rad is an inch shorter than the S2. That tells me every 944 owner needs to switch to a turbo rad. But then again, I sell radiators and fans daily.
