Cool New Porsche Owner!!

Well, after half a year of looking at 944's I finally got one =)
It's a 85.5 N/A dark grey exterior, black leather interior with 120k miles. Got it for 3k. Waiting on insurance and registration till I really drive it though..

A few things I noticed with it is for one it idles very oddly.. it's really rough, but when I put on the gas a little it completely goes away. The sunroof doesn't work, no biggie, and the rear wiper motor is going out and needs to be replaced. I'm sure I'll find more things that need fixing too hehe so if anyone has any ideas or needs more info on the above I'd be grateful if you could help =D I think I'll need to do a clutch job in the near future too.. how much different are the clutches on a 944 compared to other cars? I'll get a haynes manual and my dad is a full time mechanic so between the two of us I'm sure we can do it..

I'll get pictures of it asap.. !! I'm so happy haha

Thats cool... good choice! You will love the car.

The rough idle and then going aways after giving it gas is probably your motor mounts. A little bit expensive and not to hard to change. The sunroof is probably not working because of stripped out gears. The clutch is a bit more touchy but as you learn to drive it they are very smooth and easy to drive. You will love going through the gears. Why do you think you need a clutch job? Symptons of it going out?

No clue.. it seemed fine to me but my dad said he felt it going out so I have no clue about that.. I'll check about the motor mounts, is there anything that I can look at to see if it's positively them? The PO said it needed a cap and rotor so could it possibly be that?

Oh and it makes this clicking noise that goes away when I put the clutch in.. it's coming from the cruise control I think.

You can look at the mounts and to see how the rubber looks and if any fluid has come out of the mounts. Also, you can measure them but I am not sure of the measurements.
The cap and rotor would not cause a rough idle like that to go away when giving it gas. I suggest to check the motor mounts then to see what condition they are in.
I don't know anything about the clicking noise, sorry! You can try to explain it more, maybe the other guys will know about it.

If I were you, I'd do a thorough search here on the clutch. It's no small job. You'll also need to do all of the belts, water pump, etc. if you don't have a record of them being done. You should really research this a little more before you make a decision. Working on these cars is *NOT* cheap.
