Brake Fluid in Carpet

Thanks for the help. My clutch master cylinnder began leaking while i was on a recent trip. I first noticed the problem when the brake fluid warning light came on while I was driveng. I pulled over to the side of the rode and confirmed the fluid was low and inspected the calipers but found no leak. I then climed under the dash and sure enough the clutch master cylinder was dripping. I topped off the reservoir and headed on down the road. A little while later the brake fluid light came on again and it was low.
I didn't have the tools or the parts to fix the problem so I just kept adding fluid every so often until I got home and could fix it.

So after that long statement my problem is that I got a fair amount of brake fliud in the carprt under my feet. I sopped up some but I don't know what will be the best way of removing the remaining brake fliud.
What kind of suggestions does every one have that will work? I don't know much when it comes to cleaning carpets.

Thanks for your help, Threesticks.

no experience with brake fluid but from what i know about carpets the quicker you remove it the better of you are a degreaser would probably work best but you will need to lift the carpet and clean the backside and the floorboards otherwise the remaining oil will work its way back to the surface

Pull it out and powerwash or hose it down with Simple Green or something similar or bucket of water/cleaner with a scrub brush then wet vac it up.

the only tip i can offer is to dab... don't rub... i have a similar problem in my trunk/hatch... the previous owner stored engine parts and stuff in there (including the rear end out of a truck) and it's full of grease... i'm thinking i might have to replace the carpet... i'm going to give the degreasers a shot first though...

Porsche Crest

Well I'm probably going to get it from the boardmaster for recommending other vendors but...Home Depot, which I don't thin k competes in the auto business with anyone has a spray called "Spot Shot",in a blue/orange can,and they rent spray/steamers. So.... if I were you I'd slide down to the HD get a couple cans of the stuff, looosen it up real good, and steam the residue out with a rental. Caution, you may end up doing your entire house this works so well. I have never seen a stain it won't get out, but I'm sure someone here probably has a horror story about a dead uncle that wasn't discovered for six months and they tried this on the "shag rug" and it didn't work. Oh well, good luck. Jim H.
