944 Spare wheel question

I've got Porsche Cup1 alloys on my 944 however the spare in the boot is a full size steel job. I had the rear wheels off the other day and thought I'd check to make sure the spare fitted, which it did. However the nuts maxed out and wouldn't tighten all the up onto the spare as there was plenty of surplus thread left, am I missing a special spacer or something to get his to fit?

Cheers

Dave

You may have aftermarket lug nuts so they bottom out on the spare rim because it is thinner metal in the area of the lug holes (Usually the spare rim is steel and thinner, some turbos were aluminum and a little thicker in the lug area). To mount the spare "as is" find some open top lug nuts for it...

I think the early cars came with 7mm spacers and it is possible that it was removed when the cup wheels were fitted on the car. How much extra thread do you think you have? More than a quarter inch?

Cheers fellas, I reckon I've got about 3-5 turns to go on each nut, so yeah I guess quarter inch as you stated. Not sure whether just to dump the spare wheel for one of the smaller space saving ones or just carry a can of tire weld
