Alternator Bulb Removal and Testing Procedure?

I have my 85.5's gage cluster out and need to test the alternator bulb, which does not come on as it should prior to actual ignition (nor does the voltage indicator register anything while the engine is running).

Anyone have any good directions for dismantling the gage cluster, extracting, and testing this bulb?

Or...better still...is there a way to reliably test this bulb without doing any dismantling?

Thanks!

Plug the cluster back in. Then take the belt off the alternator and start your car.

Or just put the key in the on position with the motor off. Or just see my post @ 944online.
