Heater Clip
I've read all the write ups on the heater clip and its location. However on my 83 I'm having trouble locating this thing. Is it the same for pre-85.5 models? Where all the articles say there should be a clip I have a vacuum canister and little metal arm with a pin in it. Most of those articles also refer to the heater valve being vacuum operated and mines cable operated.
Thanks for any help. Chris |

Heater valve is cable actuated on the 83... I just manually opened mine for winter use. Actually need to replace it when I get a chance.

Thanks.
Does this mean that the heater valve is all I need to check/replace to kill the heat ? I'm replacing the valve this weekend but even hand turning it right now isn't killing the heat. Chris |

Do you mean pushing the valve lever closed?
Normally when the 924/944 heat is stuck you can shut it off from inside, but not turn it back on. This is due to push vers pull of the cable. Of course in the really bad cases the lever is to hard to move and you can thus do neither. In my case both my 944 and my 924 you can shut the heat off from inside but need to go under the hood to turn it back on. I performed the replacement on my 924. It is not very difficult you do need to drain some of the coolant so that you do not get it all over the engine when you remove the hoses at the heater valve. Anyway does that answer your question? Yes thank you. I was hoping that was all there was to it.
