Is this 944 worth the $$$ ?

Hi all,

I am trying to decide if the following 944 is worth the $$$?
1985 in 1/2 Porsche 944 All Orignal Gold Metallic Coupe

I bought an '83 944 6 years ago for $1600. My 944 had more mileage, paint was OK, interior needed work. But, it was mechanically pretty good. My rims were not as nice as the one I am looking at buying.

Thanks,
Santos

Big factor in the value would be those wheels. Are they 15s or 16? Are they OEM Fuchs or replicas? What is the width?

There are no pics of the interior - that would make a big difference in the price too.

Not to comment of price, but is this a "pass thru sale"? Meaning he just picked it up at auction/curb/ebay +++??? and is selling?

His comment "I have not seen another in this condition period" could tell that he is not the past owner and is trying to flip it.

His price may be somewhat firm. High.

John

Last year I bought my 85 Kalahari beige 944 with 34000 miles from the second owner who was the business partner of the orginal owner, the car never seen a winter, never left Ann Arbor, all service records, new timing belt and water pump just 6000miles ago(replaced due to age), new Pirellies tires ................for $5500. See garage

Don't fall in love with the first one you see......I gave up looking because of the condition and miles of most of these cars for the same price or more than for the one cherry I ended up with. Patients when buying these kind of cars....its worth the wait in cash and piece of mind.

Not sure about the wheel specs, but they do look nice. I have not met the seller and not sure if car is a "pass thru sale". The title should help me determine if car is a pass thru sale.

Thanks Romad. NICE car. I wish I could find a similar deal. At least I have a better idea what the car is worth. I moved out of state and I am renting a car so I need to buy one soon. I'll keep looking. California cars seem over priced.

Thanks,
~S

Any service records? WIthout them, I'd knock at least $2000 off the price. Andf yes, where are the interior pics, or engine pics? Those who know better know his ad is way too vague to get $5500

Average price for this average 944 is around 3500 to 3995. Then according to what is needed to make it complete/nice/street worthy further discounts may be necessary. The Chocolate Brown interior is the least desired of all interior combos/colors. Can't really see the interior but the Gold cars 99% of the time were the darker brown interior...nice rims though and those are worth a little extra.

For $5500.00 the mileage should be under 50K

(My .02 cents)

In the Seattle metro area, prices are really depressed. For example, here's a comparable car for $4,500: 1986 Porsche 944 5sp Just turned 100K.

Or this car with 130 K that needs a rear wheel bearing: $2,000: 86 porshe 944

I agree with Mike, the prices are really low at the moment. Keep shopping around, you'll find a good car. You need to know the history of the beast or you could be in for an expensive start. My .02 cents.
