Relay block for the fuse/relay box?

This is my first post here, though I've been lurking and gleaning random bits of information for some time. I bought my first Porsche, a 1986 944, this last August, and am totally thrilled. I've had, among many others, a Miata and an MGB (still have it; wanna buy it?). I drove a '73 Volvo 145 for a while, too. The Miata was a great car, but the leg room in the 944 allows me to drive all day over long distance. It's a GT, after all!

Anyway, to my question. Does anyone know if I can get a relay block that will mount into one of the blank spaces in the fuse/relay box under the hood? I see that the four blanks at back-left in the box seem to have provisions for mounting a relay block, but I can't find anything on this or other sites. This would be much cleaner looking than mounting a relay outside the box.

Thanks!

No one?

I don't know for a fact, but I'm guessing you could. If you unscrew the two hold-downs, the whole fuse/relay block lifts up.

This picture is of a block from an 87 951. It has 3 unsued slots (which may or may not be the exact same as yours). Nothing to stop you from finding a relay/plug of the proper size and putting it in, I wouldn't think. Perhaps a VW part would fit?

The whole area undreneath is chock fiull of wires so it wouldn't exactly be a walk in the park routing new wires through there. But it should be doable.

Yeah, that's what mine looks like. I've pulled it out to give it a look, and it wouldn't be too hard to run wires. What I don't know, though, is where to get a relay block/plug thing for the blank places. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place or searching the right term... Any ideas?

Further searching has netted near-results. The term, of course, is relay socket, but I can't seem to find anything that looks like it fits into the stock box. I suppose I could rig something, but that's so... un-Porsche. ;D

What you want is called a relay carrier - 928 610 511 00 - $8.00.

Pelican Parts - Product Information: OEM-92861051100

You might try your local dealer. But I bet there's an interchange with VW, as well.

Ha-HA! Awesome!

Thanks for knowing your way around a parts diagram/having a general clue. :D
