Looking at another 928S with a strange problem...help if you know
Hey guys. The loan fell thru for the silver one :( But, i'm kinda glad cuz after checking it out yesterday i found a strange electrical problem with that car so i said forget about it.
A lady called me this morning about her black 83 928S also. She said its a great car and all but one problem....The reverse only works after the car is warmed up and everything. Even though this is a 944 board does anyone know what the solution could be to this 928S? I now have money from a 401K coming in and I'm gonna buy this car if its easy to fix. Could it be a torque converter that causes this? or????? |
Hi Bro it sounds like a possibly lo fluid condition for the trans , I am guessing that it is an automatic 929s there is a fill check plug on the trans check it on level surface, if it is lo and has been driven like that for a while you be looking at rebuilding it as the clutches might have overheated due to lack of fluid, also to check is the shifter linkage......Stan

Do you have access to the Latest publication of Excellence Magazine? There is an article about a $500 928 in there. This particular car had transmission issues also. It was a simple fix due to a bad trans fluid line. Likely this 928 is also low on fluid as Stan notes.
