Help on Bilstein Struts

Hello everybody,

I have a 1986 Porsche 944 N/A and was looking to buy some Bilstein strut inserts for my car off of *********.com. My question is what is the differences between the 2
Bilsteins inserts they sell. And which one is the right one for my car. The price difference is by 1 dollar, one is selling for 124.94 and the other for 125.94. if some one can let me know what the difference is or which one is the right one for my car it would be much appreciated. This is the website.

86 1986 Porsche 944 Strut Insert - Suspension - Bilstein, Koni, KYB, OEQ, Sachs, Monroe, Front, Front Left, Front Right - *********

Thanks.

I believe the difference would be that one is used for a "screw top" strut housing, and the other would be for the later cars with the "hack saw" mod.

The item description, or pictures don't give any clues.

Also, eshocks.com is the cheapest place I have found for these inserts. You might check them out.

Go to Bilstein web site & check the numbers.

Good find on the price!

I tried looking myself, and I can't find any differences in descriptions either. Every place I looked shows both inserts fitting base models 83-89.... which I KNOW isn't true.

Be interesting if anyone finds out the answer.

Based on how the rear shocks are listed (early first, late second), I'm still going to say that the first inserts are correct for an early "rebuildable" strut, and the second is the later "hack saw" strut.

The rears are early (83-85) first, and the late (85.5-89) second.

before you oder, check Koni. they make shocks fo serviceable struts and sealed units. the price is close to your quote for the ajustable style.

Bilstein doesn't make a hacksaw insert to my knowledge.

You're right^^

I did more reading (This interests me, because I am planning on using Bilsteins as well) and, Bilstiens can only be used for screw top struts.

So now then, what the different is between the 2 that the OP linked to, I have no idea.
