Steering Wheel

Guys,

Does anyone know if the steering wheel on pre 1985 944's is the same as post 1985 cars?

I have a 1989 944 Turbo and was wondering if a pre 1985 wheel will fit.
Is there any difference between the wheels?

I found Part Numbers, pre 944 347 084 02, and post 944 347 084 08.

Cheers,

Geoff.

I'm using a wheel off an 86 Turbo on my 83 NA and it works fine (this was going from an early leather-wrapped wheel to a late leather-wrapped wheel).

There was one difference - the turn signal actuator (the tab thing that sticks out from the inside of the wheel that clicks the turn signals off when you turn the wheel.).

The late wheel has the tab in one position; the early tab is in a slightly different position - and they aren't compatible.

There is an easy solution - just move the tab.

When you have your old wheel off, compare it to the new (early one) and you'll see the difference in the tabs. Just note the position of the tab on your old wheel, then take off the tab on the new wheel and put the tab off your old wheel on in the same position as it was previously. The wheels have all the holes predrilled.
