Sorry for the rethread but i am desperate .....The directionals in the front do not work. Rears work fine, dash indicator flashes. new flasher relay . driving lights all work just front directionals do not work....They worked before. When I got the car both fuse boxes were hanging down . I just put them back and that was it. I have dropped them down but do not see any wires disconnected.. Any help woud be appreciated....Chris

The problem is likely with the lights themselves. Pull the lens covers off, remove the bulbs and carefully clean the contacts for the bulbs and the bulb socket. Make sure the bulbs aren't burned out

Then, crawl under the nose and remove the connector at the back of the signal housing and clean the electrical contacts there. Follow the wiring into the engine bay and look for the brown ground wires. Make sure the ground wires are properly cleaned and connected.

If that still doesn't fix it, then move the passenger compartment and lay under the dashboard to get a good look at the wiring behind the fuse block and the fuse block itself.

Remove the fuses and make sure the fuses and fuse holder isn't corroded, clean them up with an old pencil eraser or fine grit sand paper (a Dremel with a very small polishing wheel actually works really for this) Do similar for the connectors behind the fuse panel. Do each connector one at a time though as you don't want to get them out of order. The larger connectors are harder to clean, so use a little electrical contact cleaner (that is safe for plastic) and don't get any in your eyes.

Finally, there should be a large ground ring on the firewall behind the dash, it will be hard to see, etc. but its there. Carefully move the wiring until you can see the ground points (follow the brown ground wires) a flashlight is pretty much required.

Protect the cleaned connections with dielectric grease (or Vaseline) just be aware that it only protects the connection, it doesn't help create the connection

Here is the wiring diagram that shows the turn signals and side markers. Note the wiring color for the wires for the front turn signals:

If all of the above doesn't correct the issue, then there's a break in the wiring someplace that you've not found as the switch is obviously working the rear lights and the flasher is getting power.

What caused this. That is where you should start. I would need to look at the wiring diagram but on a 928 the signals are fused left to right not front to rear although in some years (early they are fused individually. Have you checked all this?

There is a ground for the front (lighting) section of the harness. Not sure exactly where it will be but it should be around the passenger side near or under the headlight bar. You will see some brown wires all bolted together. THis is the ground point. Get a meter and verify ground to the outside (not center) of the bulb socket. However you already said you have no power so start at the fuse box. There is a light function relay on the 928. Probably on yours also (more seasoned 944 guys chime in here) it will be in the relay panel. It controls you flashers and could be bad. Otherwise, you cut something somewhere. It's a really simple system.

Question. When you turn on your emergencies same result?

So back to the more important ??? I asked. What caused this? That is usually where the answer lies.

forget the socket, check the wires coming to the socket, but not at the socket. if you have power, you have a bad socket, CHECK THE BASICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! does the fuse have power? Just because you put a new relay in, doesn't mean the new relay is bad!!!!

if your HAZARD switch has gone bad you'll get no power or intermittent power to turn signals...replace the hazard switch...sounds funny but the switch is directly tied into the turn signals and if there is a short at the switch you'll get weird problem like you say...turn on the hazard and see if it works,,turn off,,push down one side turn signal,,cycle the hazard switch a few times see if you get anything...
