Using M474 Shocks with new Koni Inserts and Weltmeister Springs

My plan is to take my M474 shocks on my 1989 Porsche 944S2 and get new "hacked" Koni inserts with Weltmeister springs. However, there is a claim that Weltmeister springs do not work on any S2 strut. Are M474 S2 struts an exception to this claim? The Porsche Pet number seems identical to any previous model with the M474 option. My brother's 87 S has the same M474 option and I see no virtual difference in the struts themselves.

Also, how valued are M474 shocks? Some guy in another thread said they are worth a lot non-cut to race guys because you can send them to Paragon as a core rebuild. If that is the case, would anyone be willing to buy my front pair and trade me regular late offset turbo struts that I can rebuild and a little cash?

Thanks,
Justin

The spring diameter on the S2's is smaller than the normal turbo/NA, so the spring perches are different.

If you are going to a coilover setup then you will not miss anything, but otherwise if you are going to use your existing springs you need to hacksaw your struts and put the inserts into them.

The other, most expensive option is to send yours in for a rebuild at Koni, and have them modify them to be Compression and Rebound adjustable. If you cut them, that option goes away forever.

So if I understand this correctly, the Weltmeister springs will not work with the M474 struts because the diameter differs due to it being an S2? Sorry, I am very dumb when it comes to suspension parts.

It's tempting, but more then double the price for 200lb springs and I just spent more then 1.5K on a full engine rebuild, manual steering, a/c delete and new front suspension bushings/ball-joints. I don't track the car so a coil-over system isn't appealing to me unless someone is selling it in the classifieds for a deal.

Could I swap the spring perches in from an earlier car?

The kit from Paragon is 265 and includes HyperCoils... Really a good deal I think...
Don't complain about the cost kid... I dropped 3k on engine and suspension last year....
