Timing Belt replacement

Next weekend I will be dropping my spare engine into my car. The donor engine has sat for three years and the previous owner had got the belts and rollers changed. I regularly turn the engine over by hand.
Can you guys provide advise on what I should do to the engine before installation.I will be definitely changing the thermostat, engine mounts and cleaning up pipe connections from rust
Would you the change belts? Is there any real need because it's not like they are getting wear.

Get new belts because of age, inspect the rollers, new ones will not spin freely.
Get taps for the bolts, when the engine sits, the oil and debris harden causing issues with the bolts being removed and reinstalled.

Make sure your pulse senders are gapped correctly before installing engine.
Check crank shaft bearing play. Heck install a crank scraper while the engine is still out.

Once you have one go, you become more pro active. I have changed a cam and balance belt in @ 40 mins. Which includes 5 minutes of inspecting things.
I think its a love thing.

The belts in my car lasted 9.5 years before the WP blew. It now has new belts.

mine lasted until it broke. $2000 in parts and machine work later I'll be changing them every 3 years.

Yeah, but you could probably run a neon camshaft off a rubber band. Just follow the safe advice. 3 years or 30K miles. Rubber belts dry rot just like tires and other rubber things when they sit around for years. It's a $15 belt and an hour job for a skilled DIYer. Replace the water pump if the bearing feels rough or loose at all.
