A thought on my shimmy
I was out driving around on some back roads today. My shimmy is not bad enough to pull the wheel out of my hands it is slight but nonetheless it should not be there. I noticed today that straight ahead there is a shimmy but on a long bend "with the wheel turned slightly" The shimmy is GONE in either direction. Do you think that maybe my rack is worn in the a spot straight ahead???

That unfortunatly just means that your shim.y is slack somewhere in the front steering/suspension. Ie. Not likely to be a tire or balance issue.
Take it to a good alignment shop. Most will do a free inspection. Tell them what you are feeling. Be honest. They will give you a quote with their price in the hopes you will come back.
