i did a deal which i tjink was good i had a 75 911s just put front pans in and painted nice interior clean car but old and tired 2.7l and the car guts were soft
i swaped for a 89 944 s2 car with 88.000 klms . the dealer could not sell it because it had a rebuilt titel , (i know the car and who rebuilt her ) just the front was pushed over sat at a shop for 5 years. now this is my frit 944 so far i like it the book has all the service up to date and a timing belt at 76,000 klms
but 5 years ago. they painted the car to sell it so its so so but a nice driver
i think i did ok. well any info on this car would be great i got a 89 964 c4 its faster but dame these 944 handel well . if they had more power it would be a better car i think any ways HI

Agreed.

That's a pretty good trade both ways. I personally like the 911 better since it's non-salvage but as you correctly noted the '75 and '76 US-spec cars are probably the least sought-after of all because of the combination of the 2.7 magnesium engine and the thermal reactors/5-blade fans. The S2 cab is a cool car. I still regret passing on the opportunity to pick up a really cherry one I looked at about three years ago... They've got a look like no other car out there with the top down - very nice lines, IMHO.

Change the t-belts and drive the snot out of it!

Do you know the status of the cam chain tensioner? If not should be checked/changed ASAP.

I love my cab great fun to drive and I haven't see another one locally since I got it!

Where in Ontario? Last week a bunch of us met with our 944's in Kingston. Was fun.

Even though most 16v owners agree that tensioner/pads & chain should be look at & if needed be change between 80 /90k miles, if your doing the belts like MHR mention it migth be a good idea to check underneath your valve cover specially at those darn pads you never know.

Lucky you are my friend that the pads didn't break otherwise you'll be looking at a very expensive repair. If the chain has rub on the side of the camshaft sprokets it migth have weaken some of the links ,personally I wouldn't take any chance with it so I yould change both upper & lower pads plus the chain ,also check your tensioner carefully for any sign of damage. If the rolers look good it's up to you but while in there why not have piece of mind for another 40k mls & change them. For how to DIY the job on your chain/pads/tensioner you will Google this__ (DIY tensioner pads chain on a 944s2 on rennlist forum)__ this will guide you steps by steps (with pics) on how to do it.Make sure that you round up all the necessary parts before you start .Chain & pads can be had from http://www.Paragon.com at a very decent price ,roller kits /belts ect are available rigth here from Pelican.

It goes without saying but I will say it anyways.

Don't start the engine again until you fix the pads and belts. you really don't want to be out looking for an S2 head.

Buy the Porsche 9201. $500 is cheap in the grand scheme of things and sometimes you can find them for less. There used to be someone on this board who would lend theirs out.

"Porsche ownership" <> cheap.

Hi, nice S2 rims with nice 911 turbo rims. Try to resist the temptation to not drive the car. I also would recommend what already has been said. Don't ask me how I know! but my 968 is currently grounded.
