944 A/C Recharge Port

Hello,

1985-1/2 944 non-turbo

The Haynes manual (944, 1983 thru 1989) says the low pressure a/c recharge port is on the compressor, which is accessed from underneath.

The port circled in the picture, on top of the engine compartment, is on the larger line. Isn't the larger line the low pressure side of the a/c system? I have been told that people have used this port to recharge, but I don't want to burst a can by hooking to the high side. Is this port on the low or high pressure side?

Thank you.

OK, I think I was able to answer my own question. I found some info online that says the 944/2 (of which this is the first release) added the additional low pressure side service port on the inboard line near the driver's side strut tower. So that is this port.

Thanks anyway!
