I'm curious if the green O ring that goes in with the oil pump sleeve on the crankshaft has to be lubed with oil. I pulled out the old one and it came out in hardened pieces. I don't want to lube it if it's supposed to be dry.
Also, I was forced to use a 5' piece of steel pipe to extend my breaker bar to break loose the crank damper bolt. What a B--ch!! ![]()

If you fear lubing rubber or poly parts with petroleum based lubricants try Corn Oil or Veggie Oil - seals will last longer this way. Various manufacturers suggest the use of food grade grease to lube their poly parts - Food grade grease available through Restaurant Suppliers and food industry suppliers. Food grade grease viscosity same as petroleum grease.

I use silglide (spelling?) on most rubber parts.
I guess it's a silcone based paste/lube. Works for me.

Just and FYI you can get Pure silicone grease food grade in the plumbing section at lowes its made by GUNK. And even at a scuba shop. Even the diving section and Sport chalet might have it.
I just used some Valvoline VR1 20w50 on it on a cool day to keep the that heavy weight oil stuck on there like honey
