What is this device that is under the glovebox and to the left?

Can someone help by identifying this device that is under the glovebox and to the left?

That's the fan motor for your climate control, there is supposed to be a rubber flex hose that connects it to the back of the round vent located on the dashboard between the lighter and the glovebox.

This draws air from the cabin across the sensor located in the center of the opening (you can see it in your bottom picture), and adjusts the heating/cooling according to the knob setting.

You are missing hose p/n 944.572.529.00

What performance have I been missing with the hose gone?

Not sure, but without the hose it may degrade the ability to regulate the temperature properly by a small amount....That's just a guess though, figure the hose is there for a reason. LOL

Does this 944.572.529.00 part have anything to do with a connection to the glove box?

No, that would be hose p/n 944.573.613.00. It comes off the right side of the heater core housing and goes across to the vent on the left side of the glovebox. Pelican still has this hose as a special order for $3.00

Try dC Automotive - Your used/recycled Porsche Parts resource, they show this hose as "In Stock" @$20.00
and they also show the other hose as "In Stock" @$2.75...may as well order them both from DC and save paying shipping twice.

It's located in the "Body" section, at the bottom: Ventilation: AC Compressors....etc located in the top left diagram, item number 37 (top center) and the other hose (glovebox) is located in the 3rd diagram (center left) item number 13 (upper right, between the large tube and the dotted line)
