A bracket for the brake pad wear sensor / ABS connector mounts there. The wear sensor is grounded to that spot.

In most cases the Cruse Control module bolts there - Are not the ABS controls mounted under the passengers fender liner and also covered in the passengers foot well for the two control modules ? Did '86 944's have ABS ? I'm thinking that with the '87 and up it was an option ?
