torque spec needed

I had to take my power steering pump off the other day. Now that it is back on, it is leaking badly from around the banjo bolt. I used new crush washers. It is tight. Tight enough that I am afraid of tightening it more because I think I will snap it off. I am at the point that I am thinking of welding the fitting on once and for all.

Does anybody know the proper torque spec for this bolt?

Hi,

The FSM says 30 NM for the 'feed line on power pump', and 45 NM for 'Ring hose nipple for intake hose on power pump. Not sure what these are in lbs/ft but there are converters on the internet. Any connections on the rack are only 20NM

I learnt this the hard way

I just replaced the high pressure hose, and snapped the banjo bolt off in the steering gear. I was VERY lucky and managed to back it out with the broken off head and use a spare one (re-used crush washers which probably wasn't a good idea - might replace at some point). So I'm with you on feeling nervous about swinging from it.

Good luck

Mike

Of course it broke off today when I went to tighten it. Luckily I was able to get it out. Sometime next week when I can source a new banjo bolt and crush washers, I plan on JB welding or actually welding the fitting on to the pump. I am at the end of my rope with this. At this point I plan on buying the parts and a for sale sign.
