Question on side inserts.
When you look at my car, you can tell that something was glued to the rear quarter panels, right in front of the rear tires, and also on the back of the front wheel well openings, right behind the front tires.
Anyone have any ideas as to what they might have been? I've looked through a lot of 1983 944 photos, and I could only find one distant photo with something that looked like a small black insert or panel in front of the rear wheels. I couldnt find anything that corresponds to the front wheel wells. |

Stone guards. They tend to craze (crack) after a long time, and can chip off in little chunks.
There should be evidence of them existing on the front fenders behind the wheels.

Makes sense. I just found out that my car has option 418 (Protective side mouldings).
Does anyone know if they are available anywhere? |
