Best year for 951

Trying to plan out my future car purchasing and was wondering what would be the best year for a 951? Any input is greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Brandon

This is highly subjective but most will say the '89.

The '89 came standard with all the same features of the '88 Turbo S. LSD trans, M030 suspension, 26/8 turbo, S4 calipers, ABS..etc.

The big downside of the '89 is the premium you are going to pay for one. Something to consider, especially with a higher mileage one is alot of the things that make the Turbo S what it is (LSD trans, M030 suspension) are either worn out or would be replaced when you start modifying the car. So you are probably better off just buying an '87 or '88 non-s if you plan to modify. If you want an all original garage queen concourse car or dont plan on modifying much then buy the '88 S or '89.

Some will also say the '86 because it is lightest, no ABS, ability to run steel control arms and early offset wheels. There are downsides though, and personally i would stick with an '87+ if you plan to track the car.

I love the classic Fuch's wheel look, so if I got a 951 it'd have to be a '86 with Fuch's wheels. That is just me.

I agree with Techno Duck... if you plan to have a garage queen, and have deeper pockets.. 88S or 89..

If you plan to track.. 87 or 88

any of them are fun, may of them will need tons of elbow grease, and be prepared to pay a premium for hard to find, rare, or desireable options...

And FWIW, my 87 doesn't have ABS...

I like my '89. As noted, I did pay a premium, but this car was very well maintained and actually cheaper in the long run...

There's my vote. Rasta says 968, but the body updates are not my cup of tea.

For me, the perfect 944 would be an S2 with the '91 hatch/spoiler, 968 door handles and mirrors, and a 968 engine. Someday...
