have you recoverd your seats

Have you recovered your seats by your self?? I am using 87 seats now but want my original seats redone. The seat bottom springs are also very weak. Being on a budget I was thinking of maybe doing it myself. It has been a long search for good used seats with no luck..

Many fast replacement S. leather (simulated leather) seat covers on ebay.

If you want to try yourself use the "Tech Info" link above.
Pelican Technical Article: 911 Leather Seats Upholstery

I have repaired a few seat covers on the home sewing machine. It does take time and could ruin the machine. The fabric is thick. I took an upholstery class at the community college.

I also have an 83 that needs the front and back seats recovered the dreaded brown.

The rest of the interior looks good and actually found original brown carpet in decent shape on this site.

I've changed out the convertible top on my 911 and it actually looked good and closed so I think seat covers with the hog ring tool very do-able.

I've seen prices from $300 - 550 just for the fronts and about the same for the rears. Maybe someone bought from flea-Bay and could recommend a vendor?

Wow...I just looked at that upholstery article...oh my..granted it was the first time he had done that. But quite honestly, I think upholstery should be left in the hands of artisans. I have no experience in kits, but I can tell you if anyone needs upholstery in the Chicago burbs, Isaac is your man. He is the Jordan of Upholstery. If anyone needs the contact info, pm me.

I made my own replacement panels for the drivers seat which was a slow and time consuming endeavor and cost $10 in materials. Winter time in Wisconsin is the perfect time to recover your seats.

I bought a seat cover bottom on ebay a while back, it was loose and looked like crap so I learned how to sew and made my own. There was a lot more to it than I expected.
I started out with a old Kenmore Ultra stitch home machine (great machine) and now I have a Singer walking foot. You can certainly make a set of covers with a home machine and make them look ok, but it's a lot of time and effort to make them fit right and look really good.
The tech article above is pretty good, but one thing I'd like to add is instead of using rubber cement or tape to hold the pieces together, use a hand held stapler (not a desk top stapler) and staple the pieces together. I found that to be a revelation when I started out. Also, buy new pre made piping (or welt cord), it's pretty cheap and get a welt foot for your machine.
Here's a couple that I've made from german vinyl, porsche vinyl and Pontiac G6 cloth.

G6 cloth

German vinyl

Porsche vinyl

Very nice job Marko. Be careful, you will have many orders soon to redo seats for people.

My MIL did her 86 951 in white leather years ago, looked amazing with the balck exterior.

Wow Marko, that's crazy nice work. I love the G6 fabric. I have some fabric that has a tiny black and white checkerboard pattern; redid the seats on an old Lancia once in a fabric/leather combo. Been wondering how the same treatment would look on my S2, and now I think I'm inspired. Ain't doing it myself though.

I was just doing it as a hobby. I did think about selling them for $265. I even started a website, but never finished it. Home.

your seats are bloody amasing. I love the 944 logo too, very classy.
You have a real talent !!!!
Only $AUD265 each, the guy who I bought the wreck from said he paid $1100 for the front pair back in 95. Exchange rate was at 60USD. I didn't believe hi until I saw the receipt. He said this was the cheapest quote he got.
