S2 Cab repair costs?

I found an S2 cab today and I may buy the car. My wife hinted she may want me to build it for her. It's white and that's her color. I have a real good idea what it needs so I wanted some parts prices. I'll be doing all the work as usual so some advice on the specifics of the s2 and the cab is welcome. He thinks it's a 91... It is a 3.0 according to the owner.

The Good
New Top (Headliner is bad but top is brand spanking)
New Leather front and rear
Starts right up, no smoke no noise

The bad
Right rear prior (repair was poor and will need to be done)
Needs a clutch (drive-able but rough... i didn't drive it)
Top isn't working. He said he has some parts for the drive but never got around to putting it together. His son disconnected it so it could be flipped back by hand. I'm not real afraid of these since I've worked on quite a few tops but how much and what usually fails is my concern here.
Needs carpet kit.
Needs headliner
Needs some minor interior stuff. An alarm was installed and some amps and subs and they broke a couple of things.
Needs a battery

The knowns and unknowns
He replaced the tb. He owns the shop and did it for his son to drive it.
He didn't do the tensioner pads. (How much does this cost?)
The spedo is new. (Unknown miles)

The Price
He won't take less than 2500 cash

What do you guys think? How much is the clutch and the belt (I'll be doing another) and the pads? I'll have to spray it but it doesn't need alot of work. The top and the seats are a big plus. I could part it out and bank but this is a good runner. He fixed it up for his son then his son burnt the clutch out and bought a TT instead.

I wouldn't expect the clutch to be much different than for a Turbo - maybe $1k for OEM parts, maybe slightly less if you go aftermarket. Putting it in is a another matter; do the work yourself and shouldn't be bad overall.

$2500 for a running 3.0L? I would get it in a heartbeat, especially if the top's in good shape. Going Por$che for parts for the top is crazy expensive, with several of the weatherstripping parts and other top components NLA.

Using the motors to raise/lower the top can put undue stress on the bows and such, so going manual is not a bad idea, IMO.

It all depends of course what you want to do with it, do you have room, what's it worth to YOU, etc.

Cheers, Keith

Be careful with the top. It's real easy to snap the main bows if the transmissions aren't synced. Don't ask me how I know :-o

There's a factory shop manual for the top. I picked one up on eBay.

I did that with mine because the main bow was snapped. it is way faster to put up and down now and I can do it with the car running
