Can i go faster using clutch this way?
 

I was driving my dads car today and because he doesn´t have to pay for service I was able to test all kinds of things like playing with clutch and doing burnouts.

While driving I started to think that when i´m at high RPM i have more power and more torque. So is my car faster when accelerating if I keep my RPM around 5500-6000 all the time by using cultch (assuming that clutch won´t fail)?

Use RPM by staying in lower gears longer. You are not getting the full benifit of the torque. Also, The clutch will fail sooner. Clutch slippage creates heat and can distort flywheel and pressure plate. Not to mention wearing out the clutch. Good Luck.

If you are slipping the clutch to keep the engine in its max power band, you'll also be going faster to a mechanic. Car and Driver (I call it Carp and Drivel) does that to get maximum acceleration out of cars. It is abusive. Clutches are not made for that purpose.

The responses are spot on. I don't understand the "no cost to my dad" part. There is no free lunch. Someone is going to pay for clutch replacement. If not your dad, his company. If his company, then the cost is passed on to his customers. If paid through warranty, the costs are still passed on, but to other customers of the dealership. And, if in some way through insurance, other insured individuals are helping to foot the bill. Even if Dad does the work himself, his time is worth something and downtime costs.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I would respectfully suggest you learn to respect the car and not abuse it. Enthuisaism is one thing...recklessness is quite another.....

that's called "fanning" the clutch, don't do it.The only time you need clutch slippage is from a standing start. Otherwise you should be in the correct gear for the desired rpm.

Join SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) or PCA (Porsche Club of America) and take the driver's ed program. They will teach you how to get max performance from the car the correct and safe way.
