What sealant to use

Had to remove some original Porsche cracked sealant of sorts from inside the battery compartment (early 944, so battery is in the engine bay) over the weekend. Anyone know what off the shelf product is around to refresh/reseal it with?

Also noticed that there is a 2nd drain hole inside the the battery compartment, anyone know where it goes, looks like it goes through to the wheel arch but it doesn't.

Cheers

3m seam sealer. Comes in a caulking tube, or at least it did about 20 years ago when I worked in a body shop.

might be a good idea to paint the bottom & sides of the battery compartment with swamp cooler water sealant paint to seal any micro cracks or holes that could be a future problem

I ended up using some exterior lead sealant, squeezed it out of the gun and then used a spatula to smooth it into the areas and create a smooth surface for the water to run to the drain hole. Then any slightly rusty bits I cleaned off with a wire brush and painted them with under seal. Hopefully should see the car to the end of its days.
