Clutch switch?

Is there a clutch switch on 944s. A switch to tell the car that the clutch is pressed in and the car can now start? I can have the car in gear, and not push the clutch at all, turn the key, and the car will try to start and move forward. Is there suppose to be a switch that prevents this from happening? If so, mine is obviously not working, where is it located? There is a switch on the clutch pedal, but the switch only works when the clutch is not depressed. What does that do? I disconnected it and everything works the same. I am confused.

The switch only disables cruise control when the clutch is pressed to avoid blowing the engine. That'd all I know for sure that it does. You can crank all 944s in gear and they will all move.
