What is this hose?

I'm stumped - I found this hose all torn up, not even connected on one end, hanging on the under/driver's side of the motor on my '85.5. Looks like it goes pretty much front-back in orientation but because one end was disconnected, I'm not even sure what it hooks onto. It's made of brittle cloth-like material, obviously not for moving anything liquid around. For moving air...where? Any help?

+1, I had the same problem in mine. Not a big deal but I hooked mine back up.

Do you have the plastic cone on the back of the alternator and the plastic tube duct going up behind the left headlight area?

Yes, I see it now. The cone is there and the hard plastic tube up to the fender is there. I just need to replace this flexible hose. OEM part or just find a suitable generic at auto parts store?

(in this case) Generic, good. Dealership, bad. Bring your sample.
